Collection-, catalogue- and access-based management

Enhancing your finding aid with archival standard descriptions, translations and transcriptions

Migrating a collection or holdings to an online database

Conservation:

Conservation and preservation treatment (for example, restoration of books or documents)

Conservation and/or restoration of portraits or photographs of historical and/or local significance

Renovating a building

Digitization:

Conversion and digitization for access and/or preservation purposes

Digitizing a documentary heritage collection for which your organization does not have copyrights

Digitizing existing documentary heritage related to Indigenous languages and cultures

Digitizing published materials such as newspapers for which you own the copyright

Exhibitions:

Commemorative projects (for example, a project celebrating a historical event, place or figure)

Creating a book, magazine, theatre script, documentary film or podcast that features a collection

Developing (research, design and production) of virtual and physical exhibitions, including travelling exhibitions

Developing an exhibition with material that is not in your custody

Oral history:

Editing oral history recordings into documentaries or short clips for publication on the web

Making a documentary using oral history

Recording oral history interviews (i.e. with local veterans or Indigenous Elders)

Training:

Building the skills, knowledge and resources needed to digitize and preserve documentary heritage related to Indigenous languages and cultures

Development and sharing of best practices and policies related to the processing of holdings

Development of standards, performance and other measurement activities

Increasing digital preservation capacity (excluding digital infrastructure related to day-to-day activities)

Organizing a documentary heritage conference

Training and workshops that improve professional competencies and build the organization's capacity

6. If your organization is seeking funding for activities related to a documentary heritage collection, are you the owner of these items?

Applicants must own the documentary heritage collections for which they seek funding. Before you submit an application that involves published materials (i.e., newspapers, serials, books, sound and video recordings), your organization must have either:

the originals in its possession
clearance for questions related to rights and permissions
